Thanks for the comments.. You know voxappeal I know exactly what you are saying and I agree.. I seem to get frustrated though that fir some young woman this is there only option for success and prosperity in life (for so they think). And yes, this is far better than exploitation and human trafficking which happens all too often even in Vancouver... I just wish that young women found find a healthy self esteem before exploring sex for payment then perhaps it becomes more of a choice than a need that effects their self respect.. maybe its just me and the work I do which leads me to be "saddened" it by all!

empowering for some... detrimental to other...

thanks... i love hearing what others think!

"Out of curiosity I headed over to the adult gig section and what I saw was appalling."
Sorry if I sound condescending, Loretta, but I always feel bemused by the reaction of people who "discover" the power/revenue/gratification relationship of sex and how widespread their effect is.

I have several close women friends who readily admit to having "chosen" their husbands over someone else to a large degree because of their profession/income. At least in the adult gig section, they can more easily change their minds & move on.

"When did boardroom sugar daddy’s become such a popular internet niche that a special section needs to be made just for it? "
About as soon as the Internet was invented..?

"And since when did so many young women decide that this was the way to pay the bills?"
About 100m years ago?

I know, none of this makes it "right", but while we can act & legislate against the extremes of this exploitation, it seems to be an underlying feature in our species.

Good luck with the Passion Foundation (and I absolutely loved Vancouver the only time I holidayed there!)

That is some great advice for people looking to get a lot of interaction from a free service. I have long heard that craigslist is used primarily for easy hookups and not long term relationships?

Hey Loretta,
first let me say that you have a beautiful way of expressing yourself and that it just totally felt like you were talking to me. I was intrigued by the title of your blog and did not know what to expect (besides maybe a ranting mother going on about a problem with diapers or nappies as they are called in Australia).
I really like that you are a 'bobber' and that this sense of optimism clearly shows throughout your post. I believe that things happen for a reason and that we follow a pattern throughout our lives that will fit in with the moods and traits that make us a unique entity.
Anyway, it is good to read inspiring posts and I will happily visit your blog again.
Cheers,
Federico from Core TV 1 - Melbourne

hey loretta,
i'm so glad that you can always see the silver lining with every element in your life.
without downs, you wouldn't appreciate the ups as much.
i know there is nothing but success for you in the future, and the universe IS listening.

Loretta,
I really like this post and hope MANY young women read it. One of the things I finally figured out in my forties that I wish I knew earlier is to focus on what makes one feel good, not on what we believe, intellectually, that we SHOULD do. I base 90% of my decisions now on what feels good/right to me, both in business and in life. And I am infinitely more fulfilled.
I also produce an audio podcast for the amazing Mark Michael Lewis called Money, Mission and Meaning: Passion at Work, Purpose at Play which your readers might enjoy.
